“The BMC works really hard to ensure that we all have access to the wild places that we love. They support conservation projects and footpath maintenance, they represent us to the people in charge, and when you join, you become part of a like-minded community.”

"When I broke my back after a fall whilst trad climbing in Utah, the first thing the local hospital asked me was ‘what’s your insurance cover like?’. I had my BMC Insurance card, the hospital phoned up and checked and everything was fine. At that point they knew I was covered, and covered for the amount that allowed me to be taken to the spine unit in Colorado.
Thanks to my BMC cover, the service was incredible. I was given a private room, treated with all bells and whistles. I can’t even imagine what the journey would have been like without it, or the cost. Ten days in hospital, scans, physiotherapy, intravenous morphine… I found out that a single paracetamol tablet I had taken had cost $50, so I really can’t imagine what the final bill would have read!
BMC Travel Insurance gave me complete peace of mind at a time when I had no mind to spare."
